My workshop is in Dunfermline Town Centre at Fire Station Creative. Easy to get to and a choice of parking nearby if there are no spaces available in our own carpark. Please note that deposits are non-returnable. If you need to cancel at short notice I will try to fill your space but unless successful then the balance is also non-returnable.

1 day Footstool Workshop
During this one day course we use a blend of traditional skills and materials alongside more modern techniques and finishes allowing you to create your own bespoke footstool over the day. This course includes:
* Expert tuition and help throughout the day
* Footstool frame and all materials except the top fabric
* Use of upholstery tools
* Tea, coffee and biscuits/cake
You bring:
* 70cm your own choice of top fabric and lunch
Cost £175 pp
1 day Footstool or Bring Your Own Project Class
With this class there is the option to either buy the stool kit and proceed as detailed above or bring your own project to work on. I will provide tools and tuition. Every project is different and there are materials available to purchase as required. A smaller project can be completed in a day whilst others might be finishing off a project from the term classes (or starting a project to be continued during term time)
2 Day Class – no dates available at this time
I will provide all the tools required, the footstool frame and internal materials. All you need to bring is your own fabric and finishes to create your unique piece of furniture. I have a small selection of velvets and wools available at the workshop for an additional cost or if you prefer to bring your own fabric just be aware that it is suitable for upholstery.
You will learn how to upholster a footstool using traditional methods from the frame up. Firstly I will teach you how to web the frame and fix the hessian before going on to stuff the footstool with natural fibres in two layers and stitching to create a firm edge. Calico then creates a very professional finish and lastly you apply your final fabric and base cloth.
I teach the whole group all at the same time so no-one gets left behind. The course runs over 2 days from 9am – 5pm.

Family, Friends or Team Activity Days
Get together with a group of friends or family or work team to try something completely different for a day! Book a modern stool making day as a group of minimum 6 people. No experience is necessary as I will teach you all the basic upholstery skills You might even want to use those later on with further projects at home. These courses are perfect for:
- A “crafty” friends get together and reunion
- Something completely different for a celebration event or ‘hen’ do
- Team activity or reward
- Day out with a difference when the traditional golf or day at the races just doesn’t cut it
